Hi. I've undertaken any number of searches on this issue, but without resolution...

Madam wife has bought a new cooker and built in combi microwave to replace an old double oven. They're both Miele and therefore European spec 16A (3.5w and 2.2w respectively). The easiest way to connect both would seem to be cooker connection unit with a built in socket to accommodate the microwave too, but the current(!) supply has a 32A MCB, which may be too much for the cooker...

What do you think (constructive criticism only please)?

32a mcb limits the current and protects the wire and fixings from an overload
you need a minimum off some thing like 60% off the combined load [diversity ] which you have
think off a tap you turn it on it supplies what you ask for no more no less electricity is the same as long as theres more than you need its ok

Thanks Big, sounds good to me.

That said, the oven has a power lead already attached which is presumably adequate for the power it needs, but would it be safe on a 32A MCB if something went wrong?

The best starting point is to look at what the manufacturers instructions say. If they don't give the answer you want, only then do you need to make a decision whether they know what they are talking about.

If you arent sure, then reveal the model number, or (better) post an internet link where we can find the specification and installation instructions.
