hopefully someone can help with this, i've been planning a kitchen using ikeas tool. i have a range that i want at the end of a new counter / cupboards but the tool says i shouldn't put drawers next to an oven or range but it says a cupboard is fine. any idea why ? or should i be able to do this ok ? had a guy out to do a kitchen planning session before i gave up with them and he had planned a set of drawers next tothe range

thanks for the advise or info

no idea why .

You go by the manufactures instructions for both range and units. If one says OK and the other says No, the answer is No, you can't, but I can't see the problem unless the drawers are plastic. Perhaps that is the reason.

Yep, that's what I was thinking lagman (Plastic). Can't think of anything else... unless as lifesagasman says, the MIs state you cannot place next to draws/range.

Could be something to do with the Swedish having different safety standards? Maybe they think that you're more likely to snag oven gloves on a drawer (with a hot thing in your hands) than a cupboard, or more likely to splash hot oils into an open drawer?

Who knows?

Unless your storing Novembers fireworks in the drawer....and your partial to the odd flambe....?????????????

Yep it's confusing.... almost as confusing as the reason why the Mods decided to move this to the Carpentry section! I've often seen chippys installing Ovens/Ranges!

I have never heard of a reason for not having a drawer unit next to a range/ oven.
