Overall diameters

Where can I find a table that gives the overall diameters of insulated and sheathed cables? e.g. for 2.5-1.5 T&E the overall diameter of the 3 wires, the insulation and outer sheath altogether. I also need to know for SWA cable overall diameters and 25mm & 16mm supply tails overall diameter.

Thanks in advance and I apologise if its somewhere obvious that I should know

If you go to http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Cable_Index/Twin_and_Earth/index.html
and look up the cable size the overall dimensions of their cable is listed.

Note, there may be small variations in sizes between manufactureres.

There can be some huge variations in overall size of SWA, especially if comparing old SWA with new.

You certainly can't rely on measuring the outside of the cable to determine the CSA of its conductors.

Ok thankyou for your replies, T&E was just for future reference for myself.

But SWA was what i needed to know the most for upcoming work, I thought that the width of the insulation, steel armour and outer protection of SWA had been set by a british standard rule (or euro ) but if it differs by manufacturer then i'll have to measure myself.

There are probably minima for insulation and sheath thickness, armour size etc, but nothing to stop people making their cables to higher standards.

"overall diameters" mine are a 42" chest with short leg but i don't know why you need this informaton
