Can I paint with a satinwood paint over wood that has previously been stained with wood stain

Yep....but paint, ant paint doesnt take well to stain/varnish etc.....so.....give it a good rub down first, then a coat of melamine primer or Dulux supergrip , then a couple of coats of satinwood.
