paint quarry tiles?

pretty much everything can be painted. with tricky surfaces such as mdf you need a specific primer before putting on the top coat. i don't know if quarry tiles are such and would go to my local crown decorating centre for advice.

i put quarry tiles down in quite a lot of kitchens although i've recently started to lean towards laminate tile effect.

i really would not recommend painting quarry tiles though. they are used as they are very durable. paint is not. i feel it would soon look a mess.

i would think of other options. try say brick cleaning fluid to clean them up as a 1st go. repoint them as a 2nd go maybe. otherwise I’d take em up and start again or put something on top ie laminate.

Thanks very much for your advice. I had not heard of laminate tiling, will enquire at our tile shop and take it from there. :D

sorry may have misled you. i meant normal laminate but with a tile effect on the top - the slate tile look is particularly good. the type i buy is from BandQ. see for example at screwfix, code 66566.
