Hey guys,
I may need some advise about painting my old newel post. It was pine newel post and just with hardwood panel between newel post, they were white gloss painted.
Now the panel is replaced with oak stair spindle, and mdf sheet was glued by the side of the newel post (see photo), and white gloss paint is sanded out. But the white glue by the edge of the mdf sheet is difficult to sand out, so I just put a bit wood filler to cover the white glue. I am now preparing to paint the newel post and spindle, could you advise how is it possible for me to stain the newel post/mdf with the similar color to the spindle or close to the color.
All advise is welcomed,
Jason
