Hello,

I'm looking to replace my kitchen and have decided not to go for any vinyl / foil wrapped offerings. I'm looking at either Painted MDF or painted timber, I would imagine that the timber is the 'best' product to go for but the price difference is enough to make me consider painted MDF seriously. Anyone have any 'real world' advice or experience of this type of door?

Not specifically but I have painted enough MDF and made enough doors from it to tell you that it would be fine, a factory sprayed finish would also be superior. though as you point out a solid wooden door would be a superior product and maybe better suited to a kitchen. Though if sealed within a suitable product should be fine after all most standard kitchen doors are usually chipboard.

Use MR MDF (moisture resistant) you will get a much better finish as it won't suck the moisture out of the paint and this is also a lot better in a wet/steamy environment. Maybe a little more expensive though. Cheers
