I am thinking of buying a H.V.L.P. spray gun/compressor to paint my cast iron bath, has anybody used one of these that can give me specific advice or even tell me if it is feasible. Thanks

Given that cast iron baths are usually enamelled, why aren't you getting it enamelled?

Because of the wheight, getting it out of the bathroom,to the re-enamellers(80miles away) & back it is not feasible. It is apparently common nowadays to spray them with an enamel paint & I wondered if I could do it myself.

...which is why there are numerous mobile specialists who do it.

For example:

I wonder if you can too. Like any decorative job (and many others too), it's all in the preparation.

Here's an example of a kit that I imagine some people must buy:

Just looking at that paint Softus - you need to leave it 5 days before you can get it wet. I hope jj4091 has another means of bathing while he's doing the Guinness dance.

Thanks for the suggestions & links, but the kits you can buy & either brush or roll on do not give very saisfactory results,or not good enough for me anyway. I know there are mobiles who will do it for you & if my research does not prove successful then that is probably what I will do,but as I enjoy all forms of DIY I thought I would explore that avenue first, I have done a bit of successful spraying in the past but never with a HVLP outfit, which I have been led to believe is better & easier to use in the confines of a bathroom. Thanks again

seen botched ones an they look awful ruin the whole *finish*
