Painting a garage door

Hi,
I'd like to paint a metal garage door and was wondering how to prepare it and what sort of paint to use.

Its currently painted with some sort of matt paint. THere are some rust patches on it that I guess should be removed. How should I go about all of this?

Try and rub down the rusty bits and get them back to a decent surface...give em a coat of Jelonite or one of those rust oxidisers that you can use for cars...wash the whole thing down and rinse it well...allow to dry..

You say its a matt finish...and a bit rusty so no point in going over the top with expensive materials...id go fo straight undercat and gloss..use a radiator roller its easier and gives to a slightly bumpy finish
