Hi all

I have a Garador fibre glass garage door. Which would be ok were it not a horrible brown colour, i would like to paint it white but am not sure if i can do this with fibre glass.
I have had metal doors at previous houses that were fine to paint.
The surface is slightly rough. But i am unsure ,so thought i would try to get tips here first before starting.
Thanks
JR

You can paint over fibre glass self coloured gell coat OK; what you need is to visit a Yacht Chandlers & buy some gell coat primer - Blakes or International. Rub the door down with 200 grade wet & dry & de-grease it to remove any traces or the original mould release agent that was used when the door was made (paint wont stick to this) & prime the door. You can use ordinary household paint over that but, personally, I always use Yacht Enamel (same brands) for painting outside; it’s more expensive but doesn’t go powdery & will easily keep it’s colour (or not yellow if white) for up to 10 years whereas household paint is only good for 3-5 years.
