I had a conservatory fitted a couple of years ago and was wondering how pro painters tackle painting above conservatories. Are these upvc structures strong enough to walk on? Any advice would be very appreciated.
In thesess riskyassementy days if you employ a large company it will entail a huge scaffold + younerman stagings etc.. or a cherry picker if accesss possible......Depend what you got , pitched? flat? or plain fkn awkward...
I usally get by with me old H frame scaffold + planks.. But was not too pleased when arriving at a job I quoted last yr to find a conservatory had grown ... That'l be an xtra £200.....+ tvm..
I am painting the house at some stage and since I last did it we have had the conservatory put in. Everywhere else is fine but the wall above the conservatory is the pain. Maybe I will try and do that bit with a roller.
Is there a window above you can reach out of?
Is it a sloping flat roof.= scaffold boards spaced so steps can be used.
The gazing bars should take that easily..
or a half sheet of plywood 25mm thick. to work off.
Pitched ... I sometimes get my very long ladder to rest along the pitch and rest on floor, supported/ tied with ballast on base of ladder.. but you didnt hear that from me ok ...lol.
The other way of course is a tower.... of course if you can get to it wih a pole/ roller..
Almost certainly as long as your of reasonable proportions - no offence! I have a 25 sq/m cons with a 40mm poly roof & was surprised to see the installation fitter actual walking on the panels. When I asked him if they were up to it, he said 40mm panels are very strong & he did it all the time; looked like he only weighed around 75 Kilo's though!
