Hi guys,
I've joined for some advice on painting my old alu 60's windows.
After spending the last year researching what to use as a base primer, I've discovered that a clean and light sand and couple of coats of Zinssers 123 paint seems to have done the trick. I'm super excited as my first window primed with a single etch primer (and heavy sanding) left bits where the paint won't adhere.
Anyway, I'm looking for some advice on the following:-
1) which external paints to now use as a base coat and then a top coat (white) to match upvc white (i.e satin or gloss? any brands? water or oil based??) I will be using a brush to apply the white paint.
2) One rear window will have to be black to match our bi-folds and I will likely have to spray this. Will a black spray paint be ok over a grey 'painted on' undercoat?? Thought of a spray as that is what I used for inside the window, but I would consider a black paint as well.
Many thanks in advance for your time.
