Painting lounge walls

Hi everyone,

I have recently bought my first house! I am planning to paint the lounge however have no experience in how to prep the walls for paint. I am currently removing wallpaper from the walls and will take me few more days to complete the job. Once these are removed, I am not sure about the following:

- Do I need to plaster the walls after removing wallpapers? Will this be on all the walls or just bits where its needed?

- Can I straight away paint on the walls or will have to apply another product on the walls before painting? I get a bit confused with all the various types of painting products!

- Lastly, what paint do I need for lounge walls?

Well, I can answer the last question - I always use Delux paint. I tried others, but Delux always gives me a good finish, easy to work with.

What does the wall look like below the stripped paper? I recently stripped paper back to a plastered wall, and after cleaning it to remove all traces of glue, just gave it a couple of coats. But this was for a bedroom and I can put up with a not perfect finish there.

Thanks for the response Is there any specific line of Delux paints that you recommend for indoors?

The wall is mostly very smooth below under the wallpaper. I'll post a picture if possible.

Just Delux indoor paid, silk or matt, your choice. Best thing really is go to B&Q and ask questions in the paint department. They will try to sell their paint, but grab some Delux anyway!
I use Delux matt white on ceiling, and like the Jasmine white silk for my walls.
