hi

as part of new kitchen, we r having all walls and ceiling plastered and painted. i am supplying all paints and unfortunately kitchen fitter's painter is on holiday so i want to find few things so i can buy them in advance rather than rushing to local shop when comes back from his holiday.

OH is keen on Almond White from Dulux for walls. Ceiling will be painted white on new plasterboard.

1) Due to new plaster i guess i will need white undercoat rather than applying almond white directly. Will this be the same paint which goes on ceiling as well, or are undercoat paints special?

2) I was thinking of getting leyland trade white for ceiling (and possibly for undercoat on walls) as it was used by our painter earlier in other rooms. Can i get this anywhere or is it restricted to "trade" members only?

3) how much of this white paint i need considering that its new plaster. kitchen is small galley kitchen with 3.5 m (long) by 2.3 m (wide), 2.5 m high.

4) Are specialised kitchen and bathroom paints worth it. As OH likes almond white, it seems its not readily available in kitchen and bathroom base. i guess i can get it mixed specially (may be B&Q!) but are they worth it?

5) are there any decent online shops where i can get these paints at decent price rather than wickes or B&Q?

You do realise that if you supply all the paint/materials, your builder's decorator will simply charge you more for his labour to make up for the materials mark-up he has lost?

Or has he quoted on the basis of you supplying paint, etc?
