Hi all, I hope you can offer some advice on the following. I have been asked to paint a hallway and stairs, with a matt emulsion . The previous paint has been applied over a vinyl textured wallpaper .On the stairs the paint is sound, but at the hallway (which is aubergine) the paint is badly crazed. I have advised the customer to remove the paper and line it. But they are adamant that they do not want to do this. I was thinking of using some 123 undercoat to try and prevent it from happening again ,but am not sure. Could I get away with some oil based undercoat as I have some which I don't like using (Wickes crap) . Also if I use the oil based uc would this affect the matt emulsion top coat .
Thanks in advance for any help
