Hello

I've had some MDF doors painted in Crown oil-based satin, a special mix to match the walls. Bit gutted because I'm not keen on the finish (or the colour, tbh) so I'm thinking of going over it with something matt - I notice Crown do a matt emulsion range for wood called Elle, for example.
I assume I'll need some sort or undercoat before I can use the emulsion..?

Any advice appreciated, thanks

Satin is self undercoating, so technically, the Crown oil-based satin coat is an undercoat as well.

As a minimum, you will need to lightly sand all over first, or else you risk the emulsion peeling or scratching off.

HOWEVER, you don't really want matt emulsion on the doors, do you?

I think they will get dirty very quickly, and I don't consider the emulsion particularly hard wearing either.
