Hi all,

We are currently looking to paint over previously wallpaper walls. We have removed the wallpaper and lining paper and filled any holes or surface imperfections we can see. However, the wall is now a mix of a very thin layer of old paint and exposed plaster. We were originally going to line the walls with Wallrock fibreliner, but decided instead we wanted to prime and paint the walls instead in hopes of getting a better finish. However, we did a patch of paint and can see that the texture of the wall is not smooth at all - this is obviously just a very thin coat and we haven’t primed the wall yet and so wouldn’t be the finished result, but before we go any further can anyone suggest whether primer/paint will do the job of getting a smooth finish, or whether lining paper is better after all? Thank you! All suggestions welcome

As above, a fresh layer of plaster would be best if you want a smooth paint finish on the wall...or, if you don't want the messy option you can always use a thick lining paper, such as Anaglypta 2500. Is there any reason you want Wallrock?
