Hi
Appreciate this has been asked numerous times. I’ve read the threads but a lot of them are over 10 years old. I’m hoping there are some easier methods now.
I’ve got some window sills and handrails to paint over. They’re varnished in finish. The window sills I’m fine with sanding down. I’ve got a belt sander, orbital sander and a mouse sander.
However, the handrails are cylindrical and trying to sand them down feels like it’ll be really annoying and time consuming.
I’m going to repaint it in crown quick dry satinwood paint which is water based. I’ve got zinsser 123 and crown quick dry undercoat. Would either or both of these be fine to cover over rather than sanding them down?
Also, with it being water based. Is it worth putting a lacquer over the top to stop the paint becoming worn and dirty easily. I assume I can’t really clean a water based paint that often.
Thanks
