I have some patchy render that has obviously been repaired in patches. After a couple of coats of masonry paint (I already had a part used can) the patches are still quite obvious.

Is textured paint (eg Sandtex) likely to help?

No what causes it to look patchy is different textures and santex is basically paint with fine sand and will not hide the difference in textures. You will need to use a high build paint but really needs to be applied by some one who knows what there doing as it is applied by trowel

I've found 3 exterior paints that claim to be high build textured exterior paints that can be applied with a roller. Are these likely to be better than Sandtex, or anywhere near as good as the paints that need troweling? (We are going to struggle to justify the cost of getting someone else to do the job.)
