Hi All
Put up a new ceiling in the hall and used the mud method on tapered plasterboard. Almost now at the point where I will be painting it.
Obviously I need to seal the plasterboard, now I could buy plasterboard sealer but this is expensive and was told by a colleague to do the following:
2 coats of 25% emulsion and 75% water
2 coats of 75% emulsion and 25% water
and then as many 100% emulsions coats as required.
Does this sound right? Don't want the plasterboard to bubble up etc.

Christ, that's a lot of coats.

On the couple of occasions I've painted plasterboard, I just gave one mist-coat of 75/25 paint/water, and then a couple of normal coats.

I just want to do it right, don't want to F it up, looks good at the mo but has to painted

No need to go mad with the water, add about 20% water max for the 1st coat and then 2 more coats with 10% water added should give a good finish
