painting stairs spindles

I am currently painting some stair spindles and it is difficult to get the paint brush into the turned parts. Do I need a soft bristle brush? Any advice would be appreciated.

use a small brush, paint the outside first then the centres then the side facing you and when you've finished wash the back of your hands

these vinyl ones seem good, they feel stronger than latex and do not seem to perish in contact with oil and solvents.
