I have a plasterboard wall that has been emulsioned before and has a slight dimple / rollered effect on it, the previous owner made picture frames on the wall out of dado rail which i have now took off, this has left flat areas on the wall which i have rollered over with emulsion but they still show through as flat, any ideas as to how to match up this effect would be appreciated.

It's really only the build up of layers that will give the matching effect. You could use some fine surface filler to feather in the obvious joins, then sand off and apply a few coats of paint over just these areas. When dry do the whole area again so you don't have patches. :)
