I have been given a very powerful and expensive home cinema subwoofer which I am in the process of refurbishing. The speaker cabinet is 30mm thick mdf veneered in real cherry wood which does not blend in with the rest of my system, so I wish to paint it black.
I have removed the amplifier and speaker driver, rubbed down and under coated the cabinet with three coats of Macpherson trade undercoat, flat ting down between coats with wet and dry. I am now ready to paint the cabinet with its top coat.
My question is, what paint and application should I use to achieve the best finish possible? I want the finish to be smooth satin black. Would a gloss roller achieve what I am looking for, or a good quality synthetic bristled brush?
I have considered having it spray painted in my local car body shop, can two pack auto paint be applied over oil based undercoat or will I need an additional coat of specialist primer?
Thanks guys..
