Painting wooden driveway gates

i need to freshen up the wooden gates to my driveway and looking for tips and recommendations for a suitable paint.
Looking around it seems most wood products are aimed towards fences and are stains/ sealers rather than paints.
Any tips or recommendations welcome

I am a big fan of the cuprinol garden shades range. The only problem I have is that some of the colours in the range seem to be thinner than others and do not cover as well as it should (2 coats). I've just taken them back to the shop and swapped the colour because when they cover well, the results look excellent.
