Hi All,

Looking for some advice.

With current situation of avoiding social gathering, looking to get into DIY and maintain our lovely block of flat but pretty clueless so looking for direction, recommendations please.

Here that is the garden gate. This was painted back in Summer 2018 and need a bit of maintenance so to avoid a bigger job later.

What should be the steps by steps and what material would we need to make it fresher.

Any specific brand recommended?

I guess it has to be done yearly rather than once in a while to keep it in pristine state.

Initially, was thinking a bit of sanding and two coat of Paint. But not sure what type of paint?

I believe wood would have to be washdown from algae’s too prior – any specific solution?

Thanks,

It looks like one of those DIY waterbased high opacity shed/fence finishes.

The wood looks pretty sound. I would just wash it down and repaint. Just remember to focus on the top and bottom edges and only apply the waterbased finishes if you are sure that the temperature isn't going to drop below 5 or 6 degrees centigrade.
