Hi, Is it ok to paper over lining paper that has been emulsioned? The paper has been up and painted for approx 2+ years.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It should be ok...did the lining paper bubble when you painted it?..if so you may have problems due to the paste softning the paste from the lining paper as it soaks in
You need to be 100% certain about the existing finish..if in doubt strip it..cos its goibg to be a lot harder stripping it later.
The moisture from the paste re-activates the paste behind the paper and causes it to swell..yhey normally go back...sometimes they dont, which could happen if you paper over it.
One of the uses of lining paper is to be papered over..its probably its main use..but if the lining paper has not been applied well you may have problems
