I never realised how fast they came in for landing, until that is, I went to whatch the wife do a tandom jump. life insurance in hand just in case

It can happen if your cords get tangled and you haven't got a cutting away knife handy. I once knew somebody who came unstuck this way. Check out page two of this thread:

He survived the incident with minimal damage and claimed that he'd "hit the ground at 120 mph". But, as I said, he just liked showing off.
