Hi
2 years ago a crack along the roof line party wall was repaired with some filling and painting over the masonry with some waterproof membrane.
At the time I was wondering if this was a bodge job - after all why didn't they just redo the masonry ?
Now it has cracked open again causing much damage.
Why did this happen ? is it that the waterproof coating does not allow the wall to breathe, and so water trapped in the wall, expands destructively in cold weather ?
Is this membrane technique actually total rubbish ?
Any advice is appreciated ?
