Hi all, I have a leak on the parapet wall on my lean to conservatory.

The coping stones were loose and the mortar was cracked. I have read the threads on this forum and elsewhere about the problems with parapet walls and potential solutions.

I am lead to believe leading over the coping stones is a long term solution. I eventually found a roofer to reset the copings and lead over but I have had to stop him working as he was bodging the lead work, using code 3 on full 3m run, insufficient overlap and using frame sealant for internal use only to fill the gaps.

I'm really struggling to find a roofer who inspires my confidence with their leadwork knowledge. I've just had two other roofers state they would remove the copings, lead over the parapet and then mortar the copings onto the lead. I'm not sure mortar is that good at sticking to smooth lead and more googling confirms that's not a great solution either!

Is leading over the copings the way to go? Another option is perhaps aluminium capping's?? Has anyone experience of these? Can anyone recommend a roofer in the north west who could help? Thanks

That whole parapet is one cobbled up mess. Whoever designed that abomination wants flogging. And not just that - all the eaves detailing is plain wrong.
