Is it possible to lay parquet flooring over an existing wooden floor?

My dining room has a traditional wooden floor consisting of floorboards. It is lower than the hall floor which it joins and I would like to lay parquet flooring over the existing floor.

Is this an acceptable thing to do?

Thanks

You don't give people long to reply lol.
You will need to plywood the floorboards 1st with a good plywood.
I'm using SP101 plywood all the time now. Great gear.

Sorry. Thought 24 hours was reasonable though.

Thanks for the response.
