It's been over four years now since Part P was introduced and i think from reading the amount of people who post here and still have no idea or intention of wanting to know what Part P means is proof of the fact that it just simply does not work..
Almost daily i come across house wiring in new colours that has been installed with complete disregard to current regulations. So is it time to re-evaluate the scheme?
Is there a better system for trying to reduce the amount of have-a-go electrical heros and cowboys? Any contractor will agree with me when i say that a large amount of electrical firms are registered in competent schemes but are hiring monkeys to house bash and blinding customers with worthless amounts of paperwork in the belief that there installations conform with Building regulations.
In fact i have yet to meet a member of a local authority who knows his a**e from his elbow when it comes to correct electrical installs.... the last of which did not know the difference between a minor works cert and an installation certificate.
Is there a government department monitoring the effects of Part P ???? or are the bodies concerned just happy to keep taking money from sparks who want/need to join a big club?
Anyone agree? i welcome your comments....
