Hi

I’ve had the back half of my detached garage converted to a room I’m using as an office. The garage is detached from the house and the access to it is now through a double glazed door. There’s also a small double glazed window. I have 2 questions that I’d appreciate the forums help with…

1. Should the builder have got building regs sign off for this? My insurance broker says I don’t need to inform the insurance company about it, so I’m assuming not?

2. In the mornings the room is pretty cold presumably because I leave the trickle vent on the window open, but it’s also really humid with condensation forming on the window and door. Is that just the room slowly drying out from being plastered and painted? It’s been about 2 weeks since I got it done.

Thanks in advance.

What is the source of heat?

Try running a dehumidifier for a period.

I’m heating it with an electric radiator and I’m running a reasonably small dehumidifier. Today I had the room temp up to about 18 degrees and the relative humidity was at 80% according to my room thermometer.
