We've got a patch in our ground-floor cloakroom floor where tiles had to be removed to repair pipes set in the concrete floor. We've re-routed the pipes now, and I was thinking about temporarily putting some vinyl sheet over, until we get a new floor professionally laid within the next year. The area is about 40cm square (used to be four 8 inch tiles), and about 1cm depth. I guess I could put in some odd tiles, but was wondering if I could get away with self levelling compound or some other aggregate, as I'll be covering it anyway.

I know it's a bit of a botch job, but I'm being pressured to get something that'll superficially hide the mess from christmas visitors - anyone got away with a similar temporary botch in the past?

Thanks - Gavin

Self levelling will do the job just fine although read the bag as it may need a couple of layers to get the 10mm depending which product you choose.
