So we have recently had an extension to the back out house and I'm going to install a patio...

The problem I have is that the path at the back door is only 100mm (1 brick below damp course)... I'm installing channel drains to compensate for this...

The patio in front of the extension will be the correct 200mm below damp course..

This leaves me with a ramp / slope that will be roughly 3.5m long... with a 10cm drop...
should i try and build the sub base up to a sort of ramp.... or is it better to lay a concrete slab to lay the patching on for this section?

Any advice would be a appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

Hard to get a feel for what you are talking about without a picture or some sort of diagram?

100mm over 3.5m is not a lot, its going to be noticeable but not excessive.

You can simply use sub base to create slopes but if this 'ramp' has an edge then unbound sub base must obviously be restrained by a kerb or similar.

What type of paving are you laying? flags? block paving etc?
