i am about to put my lead upstand on block work so it can be pebble dashed to/ over . Ideally I would was going to screw and plug the upstand to the block work - then Put a stop bead over where the screw are so it will be hidden by the pebble dash? Is this method ok- for me it will be cheaper and quicker to do than chasing and turning it into the wall. Just worried about the lead expanding and contracting causing the pebble dash to crack? Thanks

Maximum length of lead is 1.2m then a hook joint to next section. I would put a couple of layers of DPC on the lead held on with double sided tape, to give the lead a bit of wriggle room and to stop the render locking onto your screw heads.

Why not post a photo of what you have or scan a sketch of what you propose?
Except for a rub of patination oil you dont apply anything onto or over the exposed surface of sheet lead.
Rendered abutments stop short of lead cover flashing/upstands with a Bell Cast beading.
