I've used it in the past. Make sure it doen't get wet (or even damp)

It would be indoors.. how deep do you need to batton them and how far apart?

So how did it go big-all? :)

From memory I went for 2 x 1in battens round the perimeter, edge on, with verticals at 16in (407mm) centres. Made it reasonably rigid. I use steel perforated sheet these days because it wears much better and it will stand damp

Damn, thats gonna stick out a good bit. Is that depth neccessary for getting the fittings on? Won't work on the flat?

Put the battens flat, but you will still need some space to get your hooks in. If you lie the stiff flat you won't be able to get them in at all

Ok, thanks for the tips. I was cutting some 6mm mdf today and that 3.2 seems too thin anyway so will prob go with a thicker board. I see a lot of specialty hooks/hangars on ebay etc but isnt the best arrangement just small pegs arranged to best suite the shape of the tool when flat? How do you all have yours setup?

Terry clips screwed into 10mm plywood. Less versatile, but very durable. I've painted the outline of the tools onto the boards so I can see if stuff has gone missing

if space is at a premium try something like 2 x16mm thick by around 20mm top to bottom batons space about 15mm apart screwdrivers/chisels/ pliers to sit in or support one leg

you adjust the gap in different racks for larger or smaller tools

other ideas is dowels at a slight angle into 12mm ply to hold items
if you use 40mm dowels you will have around 30mm sticking out more than enough to hold a hammer

my hammers hook over a rack made from wardrobe hanging rails set into holes in 4x1 planed 1" from the front edge
