I’m planing a project to re do our patio and her indoors has decided she wants a pergola over the patio.
House is in an L shape, so can be mounted to one of two walls.
Measurements are 5m x3m
Can’t put a supporting post as it only covers half the patio and would mean a post right in the middle.
So the question I have is do I run the main beam at 5m or 3m with the rafters the other way?
If I double the main beam either side of the supporting posts, what size does the main beam need to be?
I can’t really find anything about maximum span for a pergola so hopefully some experience on here.
