Hi,
I want to turn my kitchen into a kitchen/diner, which will involve knocking down a wall and removing the downstairs toilet. I'm ok with the electrics and knocking down the wall, but want to know if I can and how to permenantly remove the toilet, or if i need to get in a plumber.
Im a woman in her 20's who teaches resistant materials, so i have some practical skills and knowledge of tools, although not plumbing.
Thanks

Hi just a few questions.
1)Does the toilet pan go into floor or into pipe through wall?.
2)Is the floor solid or suspended ie wooden?.
3) Have you got a manhole cover close by outside (large metal cover)?.

1. The toilet pan goes into the floor
2. The floors concrete
3. Theres two man hole covers in the garden.

Also ive just noticed theres a pipe coming down one of the walls im intending to remove, through the cistern and out into the outside wall.
Im assuming with this i can cut it off just above the ceil and block it off?

1 turn off the water and cap the pipe

2 empty the cistern (flush it ) and remove the toilet
you will have to break the connection to the pipe in the floor
BE carefull it is very sharp i have a 4 inch scar from when i was younger doing the same thing

cap the soil pipe either get a cap or stuff a paper bag down and cement it over level

patch the hole in the wall up (overflow) as well

then go get a beer
