Hi all - ive recently move into a new house and the garden tap doesnt work. i checked the return valves in the tap and everything ok there - no water makes it to the tap. tracked it back to a stopcock in the kitchen which has been fitted backwards (flow arrow pointing against the flow) - before i dismantle the whole works somebody let me know if stopcocks are one-way flow or is there possibly something else wrong?

No-stopcocks are not one way flow-they should work either way although there is a right and a wrong way, maybe the stopvalve isn't turned on properly?

They must be Carmarthenshire models then  ....because all the Sussex ones I`ve fitted in 30 years only work one way.....perhaps my jumper is as loose as my screw

Well they must be cos I seen one on a job a couple of weeks ago definitley the wrong way round but still working. How did you find out they all only worked one way?

I put one in my house years ago the wrong way round.

When I finally realised my mistake I found the water pressure was a lot stronger with the flow pointing the same way as the arrow on the stop tap.
