i brought a 52 reg 307 5 weeks ago and its got an annoying squek that sounds like it comes from passenger side under bonnet.it was fine for 2 weeks until it went back in garage to have wiper motor replaced.since then its been back in garage 5 times but i still got this squek.i drove back home today after another 2 days in garage and it was fine, just gone out for a drive and its there again.the only thing i done in between is lift bonnet to be nosey then shut it again,i really cant be arsed to ring garage again as i lost all confidence in them,,anyone got any ideas...

and it happens when?.. standing still or going along?... maybe its the fan belt (which would increas with revs) soemtimes they squeek for no aparent reason, you cna get a spray called "belt dressing" from car shops that might help this, ive heard that a squirt of WD40 will also stop it, but never done that myself.

it happens when driving, its like a vibration, more noticable when going over bumps but once you pick up speed the engine drowns it out, unless your my misses who can here all the time!!

Could very well be the fan belt. As belt's get older they start to perish which can cause them to squeak.

WD40 does indeed work, a good 5-10 second spray on the belt as its turning is usually enough to lube it, watch your eyes though!!

If it is the belt though, I'd change it not gonna cost a fortune.

Having said, all that, any garage worth their salt would be able to spot a noisy fan belt! So perhaps not the belt? Perhaps an engine mounting?
