Sorry, this is basic and I know there's a similar post lower down... I've got an ancient Peugeot 309 (petrol) that's been a b*gger to start of late. Not worth spending much money on, but I'd get new HT leads if I was fairly sure that was the problem. Starts fine once it's warm, but when cold, /especially if it's been left for a few days/, it takes ages. I have to turn it over, leave it for a minute, and then repeat this ad infinitum while fiddling with the choke. Once it does start, the engine seems to run fine most of the time, but occasionally it seems to loose a bit of power just for a couple of seconds when I've got the gas on, as if it's about to stall. This happens less often (but still sometimes) when it's warm. In the past the car was a perfect starter, but it's been getting worse for a year or two now, especially in winter. Distributer cap and spark plugs were changed fairly recently, but HT leads are old... What are the chances that new leads will solve the problem?
