I have a stainless steel Britannia cooking range and yesterday I gave it a good soapy water wash-down. I turned off the electrical supply first - as advised in the manual. When I had finished and turned the electrical supply on, I noticed that the piezo-electric starters for the rings were sparking ! I'd clearly got water in and caused a short behind one of the control knobs. I nipped upstairs and got the wife's hair dryer and blasted hot air in each of the appertures behind the control knobs. Eventually they ceased and now the starters are back to normal.
