Hi all new to this forum so be gentle. Just started an new double extension at the side of the house, having dug for strip footings, inspector as specified the ground needs piling (which as subsequently been completed). Inspector as now rung asking for calculations for the floor slab intended to be made (along existing wall edge) not piled walls, is this normal as no structure will be made on this edge. Please help

I would guess that the floor slab will sit on the piling and not on the ground as a normal slab would.

That would mean it has to be treated as a beam and not as a slab hence calculations necessary.

Did the Building Inspector sate why piling was required? Trees or filled ground? The company who carried out the piling should have the structural calculations to justify the type/depth of the piles. This may include the design for the ground beams and suspended floor.

I would also be interested to know why your inspector told you to use piles ?
Did he determine depth or type to be used etc ?
