Hi, I wasn't sure if I should have "bumped" other posts on this (apologies if I should have) but could someone advise on how to repair the damage to the pillar and cracks to stairwell please?
I am not much of a DIYer but cannot find anyone to do the job as either too busy or not in their skillset, so have to do myself. The property is far from where I live so the quickest repair method would be best for fewer trips, ideally 1 day trip!
Pillar - Is that sandstone?
Should I use Toupret, and if so, do I have to build up the layers and then shape the pillar details or can I just slap on a big chunk and mould it?
Forgetting the aesthetics for a moment, what if I just paint over the exposed area with masonry paint as is (and leave the proper repair for years hence), just to make it less of an eyesore?
For the other cracks, can I just use Toupret to fill and then paint over?
There has been some mention of Lithomex, is that better?
Finally, there seems to be a lot of dirt visible. Once nicely painted, how can this be kept clean? Washing up liquid? Sugar soap.
Thanks for any advice.
