Pine door Frame and white oak doors

Hi All,

Need some advise,

I recently bought a house and am changing the doors to white oak. There are pine doors frames there at the min.

I am painting skirting and architrave white but want to know if there is any way of covering or matching the exposed pine door frame to look anything like the new oak doors???

Please any advise welcome as this is my first house and bit out of my depth.

If you are painting the architrave and skirting white, then I would paint the door frames white too. Otherwise it could look a bit odd. Otherwise you could replace the architrave/Skirting and line the door with white oak:

We are in the same dilemma, but remember if you line the door with white oak the size of the frame will be smaller and the door won't fit. So either you have to replace the door frame or make the doors smaller (not ideal).

Thinking about it, I think I've made my mind up - far easier to paint the trim and frame white and then have the contrasting white oak door.

dont try and make oak match pine you may regret it
the oak has a completly different grain structure to pine

pine matures to an orangy browny colour with time [if you use oil based varnish /stain it also yellows] so best painted to match the skirting as said above
