I recently unblocked our drain using the proper rods with rubber disc attached.
Unfortunately four rod lengths in the disc got stuck and despite all my best efforts remains so.
Apart from a potentially expensive excavation is there another option?

Are you pulling it out correctly by that I mean not pulling the rod out in a angle?

If so, use a piece of timber with a V shape over the rod then pull the rod and push the timber downward at the same time.

Is there another inspection cover further down the drain somewhere?

Thanks I'll try that.
I should add that there is about 6 inches forwards and backwards movement of the rubber disc.
It feels like it's dropped into a slightly wider section of pipe as I can feel resistance when I rotate the poles.
There is another rodding point in the garden next door.

It may be that "dropped" is what it has done .....if it`s an old salt glazed piperun.......they can drop and move @ the joints

Having failed with brute force my wife said I should buy another set of rods and push them alongside the others. She was insistant so I didn't argue.
This morning I did as instructed and my wife put her 8 1/2 stone into pushing while I pulled.
Nothing. She went in to finish preparing dinner while I poured a couple of kettles full of hot water to swill down the bleach. Before packing it in i decided to give it one last go and with a hollow slurp it came free!!

It's not logical but it's unblocked and I don't mind that my wife is taking full credit bless her. Thanks.
