Pipe lagging

Came across this old lagging. Not sure what it is. Is it safe to remove. Does it contain asbestos?

Old hair felt by the looks of it, if so it doesn't contain asbestos.

Ye it contains something similar to hair in it. And the back looks similar to a carpet. I presume it came in a coil because there's meters and meters of it wrapped around the pipes

Get a naked flame near it and you'll soon discover it's not made of asbestos. It catches fire very easily, and is a menace if you're trying to solder pipes in a loft
