I've managed to cut us off from the cold water supply as I was in the process of replacing a worn stopcock with an isolating valve and pressure reducing valve.

I thought that both sides of the tap were 15mm pipe and had picked up both fittings with 15 mm compression joints. However, after cutting the tap out and clearing up the pipe ends the incoming pipe is just slightly wider than 15mm.

I realise that this is probably some imperial sizing but could anyone offer advice on what size it is likely to be based on it being just slightly wider than 15mm?

Old 17 Gauge copper, you will probably need a 17g No 9, can you solder cos' those fittings only come as capillary type?

If you go to plumb center and ask for a 16 gauge compression adapter, (16mm-15mm) that should sort you out.

I have got them from there a few times and always keep a couple of spares in the van.
