I removed a dishwasher the other day, it was connected up with one of those flexible washing machine hoses. The numpty who put my kitchen in built the units on top of the joint where it attaches to copper pipe and left no access hole and it's right in a corner.

There is a length of the hose about 2 metres long to where the dishwasher was. I blanked off the hose at the dishwasher end with a valve joint and simply turned the valve off, it was watertight so that's how it will stay until I need a new kitchen.

Thing is ever since then whenever I turn taps off or the washing machine is working I get loud rattles and bangs from the copper pipes around the house. My limited knowledge of plumbing drew me to the conclusion that this is connected to me removing the dishwasher.

What is happening and how can I resolve it?

Thanks.

I turned the valve that I put on the end of the pipe - a fair amount of air came out and then I ran about a gallon of water through.

The problem still exists...
