Hi All

I have purchased some designer wall mounted rads, the kind that go up the wall. They are 1800 x 420 in size.

I have mounted them where I want them and plan to chase the pipes into the wall to give a nice neat finish.

The question is this: If I chase these pipes into the wall, how would I remove the rads if I ever needed to? I'm guessing there won't be much movement when I put the pipes into the wall so if I were to turn the valves off, undo the valves where they connect to the rads, I won't have much movement in the pipework and certainly not enough to r3emove the rad will I?

Let me know if I'm not making sense.

The retaining nut on the valve connection to the rad tail comes completely off so you'll be able to lift the radiator off the valve.

Back again with the same question!.....

Got my TRV and lockshield today, both are compression fit on the rad tails. I'm trying to picture how this will work if the pipes don't have any movement as the tail will slide into the TRV, the olive goes over it and then the compression fit is made, right? Would be the same with the lockshield on the other side.

Looking at the olive, I would say at least 10mm of the tail needs to be inside the TRV and that would mean I would need around 10-15mm of movement on the rad to be able to remove it wouldn't I?

Thanks for helping me try figure this out.

Use a wasp lockshield valve that fits on face as opposed to internally it will give you bit of play on one side. So you can slightly loosen valve and turn it sideways to allow rad to be pushed over and out of trv valve. It will still be tight but be easier to remove rad.

Thanks for the advice, I've bought Wasp type lockshields for both the rads now lets hope I get enough movement on the rads when I come to take them off!

Thanks very much again!
